An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced, proactive and commercially minded individual to join our team as an Estates and Building Manager on a permanent contract.
The Role
To manage and maintain the brewery and pub estate, ensuring all properties are well-maintained, safe, compliant, cost-effective, and aligned with the company's operational and commercial objectives. The role involves overseeing repairs, refurbishment projects, statutory compliance, contractor management, and long-term asset planning across pubs, breweries, offices, warehouses, and associated properties.
The role will be based at our Manchester Brewery, with a combination of office, brewery and site-based working. Regular travel across the pub estate and other Company locations will be required and, due to the nature of the role, there may also be occasions where out-of-hours attendance is necessary to respond to emergencies or support major projects.
Key Responsibilities
Property & Estate Management
- Manage the day-to-day maintenance and operation of the company's property portfolio.
- Conduct regular inspections of pubs, brewery facilities, and other estate assets.
- Develop and implement planned preventative maintenance programmes.
- Monitor property condition and identify maintenance, repair, and improvement requirements.
- Maintain accurate estate records, drawings, surveys, and asset registers.
Building Maintenance & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, including:
- Health and Safety regulations
- Fire safety requirements
- Building regulations
- Asbestos management
- Gas, electrical, and water safety standards
- Licensing-related property requirements
- Manage statutory inspections and certification programmes.
- Address urgent repairs and property-related incidents.
Project Management
- Plan and deliver refurbishment, renovation, and capital improvement projects.
- Prepare project scopes, specifications, budgets, and timelines.
- Coordinate contractors, consultants, architects, and surveyors.
- Monitor project progress, quality, costs, and completion standards.
Contractor & Supplier Management
- Procure and manage maintenance contractors and specialist service providers.
- Negotiate contracts and service agreements.
- Monitor contractor performance and compliance.
- Ensure value for money and adherence to company standards.
Budget & Financial Management
- Prepare annual maintenance and capital expenditure budgets.
- Monitor spending against budget.
- Approve invoices and control property-related expenditure.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings and operational efficiencies

Stakeholder Support
- Act as the primary property contact for pub managers, tenants, and operational teams.
- Provide technical advice and guidance on building-related matters.
- Support acquisition, disposal, and development projects as required.
Risk Management
- Identify property-related risks across the estate.
- Develop and implement corrective action plans.
- Investigate property incidents and recommend preventative measures.
About you
Essential
- Experience managing a multi-site property or pub estate.
- Strong knowledge of building maintenance and property compliance.
- Experience managing contractors and capital projects.
- Budget management experience.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- Ability to prioritise multiple projects and deadlines.
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable
- Experience within the hospitality, brewery, pub, or leisure sector.
- Knowledge of licensed premises regulations.
- Experience with heritage or listed buildings.
- Property management software experience.
Qualifications
Essential
- Relevant qualification in Building Surveying, Construction, Facilities Management, Property Management, or a related discipline.
Desirable
- Membership of a professional body such as:
- Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS)
- Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB)
- Institute of Workplace and Facilities Management (IWFM)

Salary: Β£55,000 - Β£75,000 per annum, dependent on experience, qualifications, and skill set.
