An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Area Manager to join the team at Joseph Holt Ltd on a permanent contract.

The Role

The Area Manager is responsible for leading, supporting and developing General Managers, Retail Partners and Tenants across a designated area, ensuring operational excellence, commercial performance and exceptional customer experiences are consistently delivered.

Key Responsibilities includes but is not limited to

  • Setting and driving sales, turnover and profit targets across the area
  • Lead, coach and develop General Managers, Retail Partners and Tenants to maximise performance.
  • Identify commercial opportunities and implement action plans to improve sales, profitability and operational standards.
  • Recruit and induct General Managers, Retail Partners and Tenants
  • Drive exceptional customer service and operational excellence.
  • Implementing action plans that lead to change or improvement
  • Monitor business performance and use data and KPIs to drive continuous improvement.
  • Ensuring quality control of products and customer service across their area
  • Support pubs in delivering successful local events and community fundraising initiatives.
  • Ensure Joseph Holt standards are consistently maintained across all pubs.
  • Build strong working relationships across the business and work collaboratively with support departments.
  • Ensure compliance with Company policies and all relevant licensing, employment and health & safety legislation.

The successful candidate will demonstrate strong commercial awareness, exceptional leadership skills and the ability to build positive relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.

They will be passionate about hospitality, developing people, driving business performance and maintaining the high standards expected across the Joseph Holt estate.

The successful candidate

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in an Area Manager position; or
  • A proven track record as a successful Pub Operator or General Manager, demonstrating commercial success, people leadership and operational excellence.
  • Excellent inter-personal, verbal and written communications skills and able to deal with colleagues at all levels of the business.
  • Able to work autonomously whilst managing a diverse workload across multiple sites.
  • Ability to establish good working relationships both internally and externally.
  • Reliable and a flexible attitude to work. Hard working, with a positive, can-do attitude.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy on work produced.
  • Enthusiasm and willingness to learn and develop.
  • Demonstrates resilience, initiative and a proactive approach to problem solving.
  • Excellent organisational skills including the ability to manage time and prioritise workload effectively.
  • Operate with a professional and courteous manner at all times.

Technical Requirements

  • Ideally will live within a 30-mile radius of Manchester city centre as the role involves a lot of travelling to different sites across the Northwest of England.
  • Full, clean GB Driving Licence
  • Confident using Microsoft Office applications, including Power BI and Excel, together with other business systems.
