Joseph Hage Aaronson LLP is an exciting litigation practice specialising in commercial litigation, international arbitration, construction litigation and tax disputes. We are instructed by clients on a wide range of domestic and international disputes, advising a mixture of multinational corporations, HNWIs and entrepreneurial businesses.
We combine the qualities of a traditional law firm with that of a barristers’ chambers. Solicitors and barristers, with their distinctive training and experience, work closely as an integrated team from the beginning of every case.
About the Role: We are seeking an exceptional Head of Learning & Development to drive the professional growth of our lawyers. This pivotal role will be responsible for creating, implementing, and monitoring a comprehensive training program that elevates our lawyers’ knowledge and skills, including the advocacy skills of our barristers, and reinforces the firm’s culture of excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Curriculum Design and Development
- Technical legal skills training sessions
- Updates on legal developments
- Advocacy and courtroom performance training
- Critical soft skills training
- Emerging legal technologies including use of AI in the legal sector
- Developing specialised training sessions that adapt to different career stages—from junior associates to senior partners
- Creating personalised learning pathways to address individual professional goals
- Training Record Management and Compliance
- Cultivating a learning culture in the firm
- Developing strategies to encourage knowledge sharing, reduce knowledge silos, and promote a growth mindset across all levels of the organisation
- Developing partnerships with external training providers, law schools, and professional development organisations
Required Qualifications:
- Strong academic qualifications from a highly regarded university (or equivalent)
- Qualified legal professional (Barrister/Solicitor) OR Advanced degree in Education/Organisational Development
- Minimum of 10 years' experience in professional training within a legal and advocacy environment
- Deep understanding of legal professional development requirements
- Advanced knowledge of training management systems and e-learning platforms
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong analytical capabilities for measuring training effectiveness
