The firm Joseph Hage Aaronson & Bremen LLP is an exciting litigation practice specialising in commercial litigation, international arbitration, construction litigation and tax disputes. We are instructed by clients on a wide range of domestic and international disputes, advising a mixture of multinational corporations, HNWIs and entrepreneurial businesses. We combine the qualities of a traditional law firm with that of a barristers’ chambers. Solicitors and barristers, with their distinctive training and experience, work closely as an integrated team from the beginning of every case.

We are seeking an innovative Head of Advocacy Training to join our leading litigation firm in a newly created role. This position will revolutionise how our lawyers develop and refine their advocacy skills, combining traditional rhetorical expertise with cutting-edge technology and psychological insights. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and delivering comprehensive training programmes that enhance our lawyers' persuasive abilities in both oral and written advocacy.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Training Design & Delivery: Develop and implement comprehensive advocacy training programmes covering presentation skills, rhetoric, and persuasive communication techniques, integrating traditional methods with modern psychological and technological approaches. Deliver engaging training sessions to lawyers at all levels and create tailored modules for different practice areas and client contexts.
  • Expertise in Persuasion & Communication: Provide expert guidance on rhetorical techniques, narrative construction, and persuasive argumentation, including psychological aspects such as audience psychology, cognitive biases, and decision-making processes. Advise on language choice, tone, and messaging strategies, developing frameworks for adapting communication style to different audiences.
  • Technology Integration & Research: Utilise latest technologies to enhance training effectiveness. Analyse online platforms and digital communication channels to identify behavioural patterns and emerging trends. Conduct research into effective advocacy techniques, drawing from psychology, neuroscience, and communication studies, while monitoring trends in legal advocacy and judicial preferences. Implement data-driven approaches to measure training effectiveness and collaborate with academic institutions to stay at the forefront of advocacy science.
  • Administrative Responsibilities: Manage training schedules, resources, and logistics. Maintain training records and track individual lawyer development. Coordinate with external trainers and subject matter experts.
Essential Requirements:
  • Advanced degree in relevant field (Education, Psychology, Communications, Political Science, English Literature, or related discipline) with demonstrated expertise in rhetoric, persuasion, or communication theory.
  • Proficiency with modern presentation technologies, ability to analyse digital platforms and extract behavioural insights, and comfort with data analysis and AI tools.
  • Exceptional communication skills, deep understanding of psychological principles of persuasion, innovative thinking, and strong analytical capabilities.
