Role Purpose
The Project Engineer supports the successful delivery of infrastructure, groundworks, and tunnelling projects through technical coordination, Program management, and stakeholder engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate engineering activities between site teams, designers, subcontractors, and clients.
- Monitor project progress against Program, cost, and quality objectives.
- Support NEC4 contract administration, early warning processes, Program reviews, and change management activities.
- Support procurement activities and subcontractor management.
- Review and manage technical queries, RFIs, and construction documentation.
- Comply with CDM 2015 regulations, company HSEQ procedures, and promote a positive safety culture across all activities.
- Assist with risk management, temporary works coordination, and permits.
- Prepare progress reports, look-ahead plans, and engineering trackers.
Technical Requirements
- Understanding of NEC4 contracts and UK infrastructure delivery models.
- Knowledge of tunnelling, deep excavation, or heavy civils construction methodologies.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, and common engineering document systems.
- Understanding of QA/QC processes and inspection test plans.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and construction sequencing.
Experience & Qualifications
- Degree-qualified in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
- 3–7 years of infrastructure or heavy civil engineering experience.
- SMSTS or SSSTS certification advantageous.
- Working towards Chartered Engineer status preferred.
