We are looking for a practical, hands‑on Mechanical Fitter Apprentice to join our team and develop a career maintaining and repairing plant, machinery, and mechanical equipment. This role offers the opportunity to gain real‑world engineering experience while completing a Level 3 /6 Mechanical Fitter / Engineering Technician Apprenticeship.

About The Apprenticeship

You will be enrolled on a Level 3/6 Engineering Technician Apprenticeship (Mechanical Pathway), a nationally recognised qualification designed for those starting a career in mechanical engineering. The programme combines off‑the‑job training with hands‑on site and workshop experience.

About The Role

As a Mechanical Fitter Apprentice, you will work alongside experienced engineers and fitters to support the maintenance, repair, and installation of mechanical equipment and plant used across civil engineering projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assisting with the maintenance and repair of plant, machinery, and mechanical systems
  • Supporting fault finding and breakdown repairs
  • Assisting with inspections, servicing, and preventive maintenance
  • Learning to read and follow engineering drawings and manuals
  • Using hand tools, power tools, and workshop equipment safely
  • Supporting equipment installations and modifications
  • Maintaining accurate maintenance records
  • Following health & safety procedures at all times

About You

We’re looking for someone who enjoys practical, hands‑on work and wants to build a long‑term career in mechanical engineering. You will ideally have:

  • A strong interest in mechanical engineering or plant maintenance
  • A practical mindset and willingness to learn
  • Good problem‑solving skills and attention to detail
  • A strong commitment to health and safety
  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths (or willingness to work towards them)
  • A positive attitude and strong work ethic

No previous mechanical experience is required — just enthusiasm, reliability, and a desire to learn.
