We are seeking an experienced and proactive HR Advisor to join the Joseph Gallagher Group, with a strong focus on Employee Relations alongside broader HR operational support. This role will be responsible for managing a wide range of complex employee relations cases, while also supporting day‐to‐day HR processes including contractual changes, onboarding documentation, and end‐of‐employment administration. You will work closely with managers across the business, providing clear, pragmatic advice to ensure fair, consistent, and legally compliant outcomes. This is a fast‐paced role requiring confidence, sound judgement, and the ability to manage sensitive matters with professionalism and discretion.
Key Responsibilities- Manage complex employee relations cases end‐to‐end, including disciplinary, grievance, capability, and appeal processes.
- Advise and support managers on employee conduct, performance, and other HR matters.
- Lead and support investigations, ensuring thorough and compliant processes are followed as well as developing other team members in investigations.
- Attend and complete formal meetings as HR representative, providing clear outcomes.
- Ensure all ER cases are handled in line with company policy, employment law, and best practice.
- Provide day‐to‐day HR advice to managers across the business.
- Support with the preparation of HR documentation including contracts of employment, offer letters, and letters of variation.
- Manage end‐of‐employment processes, including resignations, terminations, and exit documentation.
- Ensure HR records and documentation are accurate, up to date, and compliant.
- Support the review and development of HR policies and procedures in line with legislative changes and business needs.
- Promote consistency and best practice across all HR activities.
- Ensure compliance with employment law and internal processes.
- Build effective working relationships with managers and stakeholders across the business.
- Provide guidance and informal coaching to junior HR team members where required.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of HR processes and practices.
- Proven experience managing complex employee relations cases end‐to‐end.
- Strong working knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice.
- Experience in a generalist HR role, including contracts and HR administration.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with professionalism.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage a high‐volume workload.
- Confident working independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to build credibility and influence stakeholders at all levels.
- CIPD Level 5.
- Pragmatic and solutions‐focused.
