We are seeking a dedicated and technically proficient Healthcare Assistant (HCA) to provide 1-to-1 support for a gentleman with a Spinal Cord Injury living in his family home. The resident is a motivated professional who works from home; therefore, the ideal candidate will be someone who is organized, discreet, and capable of maintaining a high standard of clinical care while respecting a professional home-office environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Clinical Bowel Management: Perform daily Manual Bowel Evacuation. (competency sign-off required).
- Urological Care: Perform Bladder Washouts twice weekly and manage catheter care.
- Physical Therapy Support: Assist with a demanding morning exercise and stretching routine. Must be confident in manual handling and the use of adaptive equipment.
- Personal Care: Support with all aspects of daily living, including washing, dressing, and skin integrity monitoring.
- Household Support: Light cleaning, laundry, and meal preparation (when family members are not available).
Requirements
- Experience: Proven experience in Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) care is essential.
- Clinical Skills: Must be trained and competent in Manual Bowel Evacuation and Bladder Washouts.
- Physical Fitness: The morning routine is physically active; candidates must be confident in their manual handling technique.
- Communication: Excellent English (written and spoken) to support a resident in a work-from-home setting.
- DBS: Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willing to undergo one).
