Job Description: As the Group Clinical and Governance Manager, you will lead the clinical management and oversight of the organisation’s multi-site clinics, ensuring safe, effective, and high-quality clinical service delivery. You will work closely with the Medical Director and senior leadership to plan, design, and set up new clinics from a clinical and operational perspective, ensuring readiness to deliver outstanding patient care from day one. In this role, you will oversee all aspects of clinical practice across the group, including clinical team leadership, clinical infrastructure readiness, governance, regulatory compliance (e.g., CQC), and continuous service improvement. You will act as the Registered Manager and a central clinical point of contact during inspections, audits, and service reviews.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Clinical Leadership & Oversight of Clinic Operations
  • Provide clinical leadership for the day-to-day running of clinics, ensuring smooth delivery of services.
  • Support the operational setup of new clinic sites from a clinical infrastructure and staffing perspective, including layout planning, equipment readiness, infection control setup, and emergency preparedness.
  • Work closely with medical, nursing, and operational leads to ensure clinical pathways and patient journeys are clearly defined and delivered to a high standard.
  • Ensure effective coordination of medical, nursing, and allied health teams across clinics.
  • Clinical Setup & Service Launches
    • Lead the clinical planning and mobilisation of new services or clinics.
    • Specify and validate clinical equipment needs, resuscitation readiness, and infection prevention infrastructure.
    • Recruit, onboard, and train clinical staff in preparation for clinic openings.
  • CQC and Regulatory Compliance
    • Support the Registered Manager for the business and oversee CQC-related activities including service registration, readiness assessments, inspections, and compliance reporting.
    • Ensure all clinics meet or exceed the Fundamental Standards of Care and regulatory expectations.
    • Lead quality assurance initiatives and maintain up-to-date documentation, including risk assessments, SOPs, and clinical policies.
  • Clinical Governance & Quality Improvement
    • Chair Clinical Governance Committees and ensure that governance is embedded across all services.
    • Lead on clinical incident investigation, reporting, and root cause analysis. Ensure appropriate learning and follow-up actions.
    • Oversee regular audits (e.g., infection control, consent, record keeping, medication safety) and ensure audit findings are acted upon.
  • Leadership of Clinical Teams
    • Line manage nursing leads, infection control practitioners, and allied health professionals.
    • Ensure adequate clinical staffing and effective rostering across all sites.
    • Support recruitment and workforce planning to align clinical capabilities with patient demand.
  • Clinical Education & Emergency Preparedness
    • Act as the Clinical Lead for training and ongoing professional development.
    • Ensure clinical teams are trained in resuscitation procedures, crash trolley checks, oxygen administration, safeguarding, and other clinical priorities.
    • Coordinate emergency drills, resus inspections, and preparedness assessments.
  • Meetings and Committee Involvement
    • Organise and lead clinically focused meetings including Multidisciplinary Team Meetings (MDTs), Clinical Governance Meetings, Infection Control Meetings, and Medical Advisory Committee (MAC) reviews.
    • Coordinate Radiology QA, incident reporting reviews, and clinical risk assessments across services.
  • Performance Monitoring
    • Define, monitor, and review Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) related to patient outcomes, clinical efficiency, and satisfaction.
    • Use data to inform clinical service improvements and report regularly to the Executive Board.
  • Staff Development & Appraisals
    • Lead performance appraisals for clinical staff.
    • Support professional development plans and ensure all mandatory training is up to date.

    Qualifications & Experience:

    • Registered healthcare professional (Nurse, AHP, or Clinician) with active registration.
    • Minimum 2–4 years of experience in clinical leadership, including experience in setting up or managing new clinical services or clinics.
    • Proven understanding of clinical governance, CQC requirements, and quality improvement frameworks.
    • Experience managing multi-disciplinary teams in a regulated healthcare environment.
    • Confident with clinical audits, training delivery, incident management, and regulatory inspections.
    • Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence and motivate teams.
    • IT literacy and experience with clinical systems/EHRs and Microsoft Office.

    Desirable:

    • Experience acting as a CQC Registered Manager.
    • Knowledge of private healthcare settings or independent clinics.
    • Experience with opening or scaling clinical services.
