We are currently recruiting for a Rehousing Officer on a locum basis for initially 3 months. Potential for extensions. Full time 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday, hourly rate £15.12 per hour PAYE which is equivalent to £29,091 salary.
The role:
- Identify suitable temporary accommodation for homeless households to meet our statutory homeless duties.
- Undertake visits to homeless households to arrange sign up of tenancy, completion of Housing Benefit claim and offer welfare advice as appropriate.
- Liaise with stakeholders in a way that promotes the One Medway Council Plan and embeds our values and behaviours.
Accountabilities and outcomes:
- To provide effective management of rent accounts to ensure maximisation of income. This will include ensuring that households in temporary accommodation have received details of their rent and methods of payment, and where appropriate referred for support.
- To provide a comprehensive service for social housing applicants, including assessment of applications for housing against Medway Council’s Allocations Policy, investigation, verification, decision making and maintenance of individual records on the Homechoice choice-based Lettings system.
- To offer proactive advice and assistance to persons in housing need in line with the council’s statutory duties, allocations policy and lettings plans.
This post will have a strong focus on placing homeless households into temporary accommodation. This will include planning ahead for upcoming and on the day placements, sourcing temporary accommodation properties and ensuring we are making the best use of the accommodation available to us.
