Overview Of Role
Location: Biggleswade
Shift Pattern: Day shift 4-on-4-off, 6am-6pm
We’re looking for a Packing Operative to join our friendly and ambitious team. As part of the ABF group, you’ll play a key role in shaping our future over the next five years. The role provides a fantastic opportunity for someone interested in working with a team responsible for the set‑up and efficient running of end‑of‑line packing machinery.
The Packing Operative working pattern requires full flexibility across the week, as it is based on a 4‑on/4‑off rotation. For example, you may work Monday to Thursday in one week, then Tuesday to Friday the following week. This will be day shift only, working 6am to 6pm.
Key Accountabilities
Our Shift Leader is looking for a team member to:
- Lead boldly — collate, record or interpret information for effective role delivery and continuous improvement.
- Stay curious — proactively engage in training and seek support to improve skills.
- Do the right thing together — be aware of Safe Operating Procedures and Safe Systems of Working, ensuring safety for self and others and maintain excellent standards of hygiene and cleanliness.
- Make it happen — assist with the handling and packing of product by operating specified machinery and maintain excellent standards of product and packaging quality.
The Right Person

- Previous experience of working within a food production environment.
- Team‑working skills and examples of good relationships with peers and managers.
- Understanding of the importance of effective shift handovers.
