Electrician in Didcot

Electrician Electrician with LV/HV experience needed in Didcot, Oxfordshire, close to Oxford, Abingdon, Wantage, Wallingford and Newbury. An established electrical engineering business is looking for an Electrician with LV/HV experience to join its engineering and operations team. This is an opportunity for a hands-on electrical fitter with experience in low voltage (LV) and/or high voltage (HV) electrical distribution equipment. You'll be involved in installing, assembling, maintaining and refurbishing electrical equipment across a range of infrastructure and engineering projects. The role would suit an experienced Electrician, Electrical Fitter, HV Fitter, Switchgear Fitter or Electrical Installation Engineer with practical experience of switchgear, transformers, substations, cable systems or electrical distribution equipment. Candidates with strong LV experience who are looking to develop their HV skills may also be considered, depending on their experience and the requirements of the project. Duties * Install, assemble, maintain and refurbish LV/HV switchgear, distribution boards, transformers, substations, control panels and associated electrical equipment. * Carry out cable installation, dressing, glanding, termination, jointing and connection work in accordance with technical drawings and specifications. * Install and maintain electrical containment, busbar systems, earthing, bonding and associated components. * Undertake inspections, electrical testing, functional checks, fault-finding and maintenance within your level of competence and authorisation. * Support commissioning activities, identify defects, complete remedial works and maintain accurate inspection, testing and maintenance records. Requirements * Previous experience as an Electrical Fitter, LV Fitter, HV Fitter, Switchgear Fitter or Electrical Installation/Maintenance Engineer. * A recognised electrical qualification, apprenticeship or relevant technical training. * Practical experience installing, assembling, maintaining or repairing electrical distribution equipment and associated cabling. * Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, cable schedules and technical documentation. * Strong understanding of electrical safety procedures, risk assessments, method statements and permit-to-work systems, with relevant HV authorisations or cable jointing qualifications desirable where applicable. Desirable Experience * HV switchgear, transformers, substations and electrical distribution networks. * 11kV and/or 33kV electrical infrastructure. * HV/LV cable installation, jointing, glanding and termination. * Electrical testing, inspection, commissioning and fault-finding. * Planned preventative maintenance and corrective maintenance. * Experience working to network operator standards or within utilities, power distribution and infrastructure environments.
