About the Role: Are you a high-achieving STEM graduate looking to bridge the gap between technical engineering and high-level strategy consulting? As our Associate Consultant - Engineering & Industrial, you will sit at the intersection of technical strategy, commercial growth, and executive client engagement. Working across the UK, European, and Japanese markets, you will act as a trusted advisor to key accounts within the engineering, manufacturing, and technology sectors—helping clients identify operational efficiencies, navigate market entry, and unlock growth opportunities. This role is ideal for an ambitious graduate or early-career professional who combines a rigorous engineering background with sharp commercial instincts and a desire to shape high-impact business strategies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Client Growth & Advisory (80%)
    • Client Account Growth: Manage key global client accounts and drive their commercial expansion by identifying, positioning, and securing design wins and high-value contracts within Tier 1 and Tier 2 engineering, manufacturing, and industrial OEMs in the UK and EU.
    • OEM Relationship Cultivation: Establish and maintain strong, consultative relationships with key decision-makers (engineering, procurement, and product management) at European OEMs, particularly in Germany and broader Europe.
    • Account Strategy & Expansion: Manage and grow established client relationships across the UK and Europe, acting as a key point of contact for project scopes and strategic updates.
    • Technical Solution Selling & Strategy: Understand complex technical requirements (specifically within mechanical/electrical engineering and interconnect technologies) and effectively position our clients' technical solutions.
    • Value Identification: Identify upsell and cross-sell opportunities within existing accounts by conducting organizational pain-point analysis and strategic discovery sessions.
    • Deliverable Ownership: Prepare and present high-impact pitch decks, technical proposal responses, and strategic roadmaps to executive stakeholders.
    • Remote & Travel Management: Work autonomously from a home office while managing a regular travel schedule to meet clients, attend industry expos, and visit partner facilities across the UK, Europe, and Japan.
  • New Business Development (20%)
    • Logo Acquisition: Identify, map, and approach prospective industrial and tech prospects across target UK/EU regions.
    • Market Intelligence: Monitor trends across manufacturing, electronics, and engineering sectors to build compelling outbound value propositions.
    • Proposal & Pitching: Lead the end-to-end proposal lifecycle for prospective accounts, from initial outreach to contract presentation in collaboration with the wider team.

About You

  • Academic Background: Minimum Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or a closely related STEM discipline.
  • Professional Background: Experience coming from a Strategy consulting, Management consulting, Professional Services or a highly structured technical sales environment.
  • Consulting Mindset: Strong analytical framework with the ability to structure complex business problems and communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Commercial Drive: Highly comfortable building executive relationships, negotiating account scope, and driving commercial revenue.
  • Autonomy & Drive: Highly self-motivated, disciplined, and comfortable working fully remotely as an individual contributor while maintaining high productivity.
  • Leadership Potential: Clear leadership qualities with the ambition, communication skills, and strategic mindset required to build, mentor, and eventually scale a team.
  • Preferred / Nice-to-Have:
    • Domain Expertise: Deep knowledge of electrical connectors/interconnects and their specific applications in industrial environments is a major advantage.
    • Multilingual: German language skills are highly beneficial to support business development in the DACH region (French or Japanese language skills are also a plus).
