Purpose of the Role

To plan and deliver high-quality, inclusive teaching that meets the diverse needs of pupils with complex needs and challenging behaviours.

We are a small independent school which supports KS2 and KS3 students that may have previously experienced difficulties accessing in their education. We are committed to ensuring that all students learn and are engaged in the appropriate programme of study, which allows them to successfully re‑engage with education and to achieve their very best outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging, evidence‑informed lessons that meet the individual needs of pupils, including those with SEND and trauma histories.
  • Use assessment data to monitor pupil progress and adapt teaching strategies accordingly.
  • Promote pupils' social, emotional, and academic development through trauma boosts and therapeutic approaches.
  • Maintain high expectations for behaviour and learning, consistent with the school's behaviour policy and Staff Code of Conduct.
  • Collaborate with teaching assistants and specialist staff to provide effective support.

Requirements

  • Proven experience teaching pupils with complex needs and challenging behaviour.
  • Strong understanding of curriculum, assessment, and behaviour management in special education settings.
  • QTS/QTLS qualification.
  • Commitment to professional conduct, safeguarding, and the Staff Code of Conduct.
  • Ability to plan, deliver, and assess effective teaching and learning.
