The Role

Deborah Carmichael, Solicitor Advocate and one of our Partners, leads the Dispute Resolution team.

This team comprises Associates, Senior Solicitors, Solicitors and Trainees as well as benefitting from the support of a highly experienced Legal Secretary and Legal Assistants.

The work is varied, with case types across the spectrum of dispute resolution casework.

Specialisms are encouraged, and we seek to cross-refer work from our complimentary departments to increase client loyalty.

As a Dispute Resolution Solicitor, you will be working with a partner-led team of professionals who have a range of skills and expertise.

Our Client Services department bring new clients into the Dispute Resolution team and our Finance Team handles feeing so that you can maintain a clear client and case-focused outlook.

Our firm values a proactive attitude and high-communication style in this regard.

We strive for high client satisfaction and the team average 4.4/5 from our client feedback.

Candidates should be a strong team player with excellent communication and technical skills.

We work closely with clients, experts & counsel as required and act for clients in courts across Scotland.

Candidates are also required to have an in-depth understanding of the appropriate legal procedures and regulations with a proven track record of providing comprehensive legal advice and delivering successful outcomes for clients.

The role presents an opportunity for the right person to develop personally and professionally within the firm through promotion and capability development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Acting on behalf of clients in the resolution of contentious issues, including conducting hearings in the Sheriff Courts and the Court of Session.
  • To provide advocacy in tribunals, arbitration and mediation
  • Taking statements, attending consultations, drafting pleadings, instructing expert witnesses, preparing cases for proofs/debates
  • Actively participating in business development opportunities
  • Working collaboratively and flexibly with other team members
  • Working closely with experts and ensuring counsel are instructed accordingly where required
  • Supporting the partners to continuously drive forward business opportunities

  • Proven experience within Dispute Resolution
