Are you a people-focused HR professional who enjoys seeing cases through from start to finish - from hands-on employee relations work to the detail-driven administration that underpins great HR delivery? Do you thrive in a fast-paced environment where sound judgement, empathy, and autonomy matter, and where you can play an active role in shaping how our HR function operates, evolves, and supports the business as we continue to grow?

A key part of the role will be working with managers to build confidence and capability, helping prevent issues escalating into formal cases and embedding HR best practice across the firm. If so, we'd love to hear from you.

At Jones Whyte, our people are at the centre of everything we do. Following 12 consecutive years of stable growth, we have recently appointed a Director of People and we are expanding our People Team; looking for an experienced HR Executive to join us at an exciting stage of our journey. Reporting to the People and Operations Manager, you'll provide an effective, proactive, and end-to-end HR service across the firm. This is a hands-on role where you'll balance employee relations casework with proactive HR activity - supporting managers to resolve issues early and helping reduce the need for formal processes.

We're looking for someone who enjoys operational HR delivery but is also keen to get involved in the growth and evolution of the team - someone who sees beyond just processing and wants to help shape how HR supports the business. The ideal candidate will have prior HR experience and a track record of managing cases with a blend of policy knowledge, practical judgement, and empathy. You'll work closely with managers and employees, providing pragmatic advice and ensuring each case is managed thoroughly, consistently, and professionally from start to finish. We're not looking for someone who simply quotes the handbook. We want an HR professional who understands that effective HR combines strong fundamentals with common sense, creativity, and a willingness to improve how things are done.

Objectives of the Role

  • Delivering the day-to-day end-to-end HR service, managing cases from initial query through to resolution, including all associated administration
  • Managing and maintaining accurate HR records, systems, and documentation to support each case
  • Updating and calculating holidays, managing absences, and liaising with managers using a practical, solution-focused approach
  • Managing probation processes, including interviews, documentation, and manager support
  • Managing the HR Ticket Desk, responding to first-line queries and escalating appropriately
  • Supporting payroll at month-end, ensuring accuracy and timely submissions
  • Assisting with employee relations matters, taking a constructive, resolution-first approach
  • Working with managers to resolve people issues efficiently while balancing fairness and business needs
  • Supporting HR projects and initiatives, including contributing ideas to improve processes, employee experience, and the overall People function
  • Overseeing and attending HR meetings and events
  • Handling sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and discretion

Requirements

  • Essential CIPD qualification (or working towards it)
  • At least 2 years HR experience in a generalist or operational HR role
  • Experience of managing HR cases end to end, including the associated administrative work
  • Strong understanding of UK employment law and HR best practice, with the ability to apply them pragmatically
  • Excellent judgement, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • A proactive mindset, with an interest in contributing to the development of a growing HR team and taking ownership to make things happen
  • Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and confidence working independently and collaboratively
