Jones Whyte's Dispute Resolution team handles some of Scotland's most complex commercial litigation, from high-value contract disputes to contentious property and employment matters. The Role
As a Solicitor in our Dispute Resolution department, we will require you to manage a varied caseload of commercial disputes and to represent clients in courts across Scotland. The ideal candidate will be client focused and proactive with a positive attitude and flexible approach. You will be a strong team player with excellent communication and technical skills. The role presents an opportunity for the right candidate to develop personally and professionally within the firm and gain promotion. We understand the want for a good work-life balance. Responsibilities
- Acting on behalf of clients in the resolution of contentious issues, including conducting hearings in the Sheriff Courts and the Court of Session
- Providing advocacy in tribunals, arbitration and mediation
- Taking statements, attending consultations, drafting pleadings, instructing expert witnesses, preparing cases for proofs/debates
- Actively participating in business development opportunities
- Working collaboratively and flexibly with other team members
- Working closely with experts and ensuring counsel are instructed accordingly where required
Requirements
- Strong work ethic and team player
- 3+ years PQE within a Dispute Resolution firm/department
- Strong technical knowledge
- Strong communication and organisation skills

- Proactive and responsive to clients' demands
- Ability to liaise effectively with peers and clients at various levels of seniority
