Overview
In this role you lead UK financial reporting and controls for JLL, ensuring accurate statutory and US GAAP reporting across the UK. You will head a Controllership team in London and partner with shared services, UK leadership, and global Controllership to drive compliance and timely close. You tackle complex accounting areas, governance, and cross‑entity initiatives in a high‑scale, multinational environment. This is a strategic, high‑impact position with a strong emphasis on control robustness and cross‑functional partnership.
Responsibilities
- Own UK month-end close and close calendar with timely deliveries across all UK entities
- Review and approve complex journals, accruals, and payroll entries
- Conduct balance sheet and P&L review controls with variance commentary
- Oversee payroll and bonus reporting controls
- Prepare and approve high-risk reconciliations; manage dashboards and aged items
- Monitor balance sheet risks; escalate to UK and regional leadership
- Manage intercompany disputes and asset transactions (additions, retirements, disposals, transfers)
- Own UK statutory filings (FRS 102) and liaison with external auditor
- Coordinate Companies House filings and FCA regulatory returns
- Lead SOX control testing and remediation of findings
- Deliver US GAAP reporting within global framework; optimize month-end close across UK and US timetables
- Provide cross‑functional financial modelling and decision support for UK leadership
- Coordinate with Tax on VAT, corporation tax, and PAYE processes
- Lead and develop a UK Controllership team and drive process improvements
- Partner with HR, Legal, Compliance, Procurement, and Tax on cross‑functional finance matters
- Represent Controllership in UK leadership discussions on financial and compliance matters
- Lead or support entity rationalization, acquisitions, and integration projects
Key requirements
- ACA or ACCA qualified; US CPA or international equivalent considered with UK statutory and Companies House experience
- 6-8 years post-qualification experience with external audit background
- Experience reporting within a large, listed or multinational group; familiarity with UK GAAP/FRS 102 and US GAAP preferred
- Proven experience managing and developing a team
- Experience with shared service centers and ensuring service quality
- Strong stakeholder management and credibility to engage UK business leadership and global/regional Controllership
- Proactive communication and risk management with leadership alignment
- Experience with Oracle/PeopleSoft, OneStream, and Tableau or equivalent financial systems
- Excellent Excel skills and ability to manage multiple deadlines
