Overview
As Site Waste Manager, you will lead the Filton waste programme to ensure safe, compliant and cost-effective waste operations. You’ll direct a six-person team, align activities with regulatory duties, and provide timely reporting to senior stakeholders. The role blends hands-on leadership with process improvement to drive environmental performance and operational resilience. Your work supports the site’s sustainability goals and underpins safe, efficient facilities management. This is a hands-on, strategic role at a global real estate services firm that values safety, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate and manage all waste activities across the Filton site
- Lead and develop a six-strong waste operatives team and allocate daily tasks
- Maintain compliant training records and ensure competency standards
- Oversee waste data submissions, contractor invoices, and cost tracking
- Ensure regulatory compliance for waste transfer and consignment notes
- Produce monthly waste reports and present to site leadership and stakeholders
- Manage relationships with waste contractors and monitor service delivery
- Champion health, safety, and environmental standards across operations
- Address operational challenges and implement contingency plans
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders and provide expert waste guidance
Key requirements
- Experience managing waste operations in industrial, commercial, or facilities management environments
- Proven leadership and ability to motivate and develop teams
- Comprehensive knowledge of hazardous/non-hazardous waste regulations and waste documentation
- Strong financial acumen: budgeting, cost tracking, invoicing, reporting
- Solid health and safety competence and regulatory compliance experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication and stakeholder management
- Strong organizational and planning abilities with attention to detail
- Proficiency with Excel and data management; knowledge of waste management software advantageous
- Relevant waste management, environmental, or facilities management qualifications advantageous
- Availability to work 07:00–15:30, Monday–Friday, with occasional extended hours
