Engineering Shift Leader JLL is looking for an experienced Engineering Shift Leader to oversee the safety‑first management of critical facilities and data centre infrastructure. The role requires extensive knowledge of Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing (MEP) systems and the ability to lead a small engineering team on shift. Key Responsibilities * Supervise, coordinate, and support the site‑based engineering team, including internal and MEP responsibilities. * Operate all facility systems competently, ensuring efficient HVAC, electrical switching, and other critical operations. * Make recommendations for system improvements and provide concise technical reports. * Control all activities related to the technical operation of installed building systems, ensuring compliance with statutory regulations and contractual SLAs. * Plan and support specialist vendor works, including reactive, corrective, and planned maintenance, ensuring proper change‑management approvals. * Backup engineering relief cover during emergencies, which may require temporary shift work. * Operate the Corrigo CMMS system, ensuring accurate completion of PPM, reactive, and corrective work orders within SLA. * Monitor shift progress and maintain expected outputs from the team. * Attend weekly operations meetings and client meetings as requested, in conjunction with account management. * Report engineering risk, critical system availability, and daily incident reporting. * Prepare complete shift handover reports and communicate significant events to oncoming shifts. * Manage critical spares, maintain site stock registers, and procure supplies when needed. * Compile critical incident and near‑miss reports, conduct after‑action reviews, and ensure escalation of equipment issues. * Review vendor service reports, chase recommendations, and ensure timely follow‑up. * Produce site‑specific SOP, MOP, and EOP documents. * Assist the Chief Engineer in delivering critical infrastructure scenario training. * Develop team members, provide coaching, and support onboarding of new employees. * Contribute to continuous improvement of safe systems of work, ensuring compliance with HSE policies. * Escalate specialist vendor performance issues and document performance concerns. * Communicate technical and legislative updates to the team. * Maintain minimum resources onsite and coordinate suitable cover or replacement as required. * Partner with supply chain to order M&E components for remedial works. Personal Specification * Minimum of 5 years relevant experience in critical environments such as banking HQ and data centres. * Authorised Person (High Voltage & Low Voltage) Electrical/Mechanical Engineering HNC or HND (or equivalent apprenticeship). * Certified to o C&G Pts. 1 & 2, equivalent or exceeds. o 18th Edition IET: Wiring and Installation. o C&G 2391 Inspection, Test and Certification (or equivalent). o BS 7671 (Current Edition). * Strong communication skills and ability to deal with all levels of staff. * Ability to lead, motivate and direct a small team of engineers. * Willingness to attend on‑and off‑site training for MEP assets, including nights away from home if required. * Ability to comprehend and act upon verbal and written instructions. * Enthusiastic, proactive, diligent, alert, and willing to participate in internal training programmes. * Integrity, honesty and punctuality.
