Position Overview
A Mobile Building Engineer provides on-site technical support, maintenance, and engineering services across multiple building locations within a designated geographic area. This role combines hands-on technical expertise with travel requirements to ensure optimal building operations and tenant satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Building Systems Management
- Perform preventive maintenance on HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems across assigned properties
- Conduct routine inspections of building equipment including boilers, chillers, generators, elevators, and fire safety systems
- Monitor and optimize building performance to ensure energy efficiency and cost-effectiveness
- Emergency Response and Repairs
- Respond to urgent maintenance requests and emergency calls across multiple sites
- Diagnose equipment failures and implement immediate solutions to minimize downtime
- Coordinate with external contractors and vendors for specialized repairs
- Maintain emergency contact protocols and after-hours response capabilities
- Compliance and Safety
- Ensure all building systems comply with local codes, regulations, and safety standards
- Conduct safety inspections and maintain required documentation
- Manage environmental compliance including waste management and hazardous materials handling
- Maintain current certifications and licenses as required by jurisdiction
- Documentation and Reporting
- Complete detailed work orders, maintenance logs, and inspection reports
- Track equipment performance data and recommend capital improvements
- Maintain accurate inventory of tools, parts, and supplies across locations
- Provide regular status updates to property management teams
Experience
- 3-5 years of building maintenance or facilities management experience
- Experience with commercial building systems and equipment
- Knowledge of building automation systems and energy management
- Previous mobile or multi-site experience preferred
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals
- Experience with computerized maintenance management systems BMS
