Role Summary
To provide all-round engineering support, maintaining the building infrastructure. Have a detailed understanding of all new or current building services systems and contingency procedures within the buildings, and complying with the Health & Safety/building codes of practice.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain a close liaison and working relationship with the Engineering Supervisor and Manager.
- Attend all allocated training courses and act as a Duty Authorised Person (HV) whilst on duty.
- Issue relevant site Permits as part of the Safe System of Work.
- Completion of SFG20 PPMs and reactive tasks and update the system in order to meet contractual obligations.
- Ensure that daily checks are completed and repair or report any defects using the helpdesk or reactive works ticketing system.
- Responsible for M&E stock control.
- Ensure any accidents and near misses are reported to line managers.
- Maintain and supervise effective site handovers, including critical plant status, plant isolations, issues arising, ongoing works, special task requests, standard of housekeeping.
- Comply with both statutory and company health, safety and environmental regulations and policies.
- Timely implementation and recording of all statutory inspections including accurate recording of electrical, fire and water hygiene records.
- Where necessary be available to attend out of hours calls when required or when working the on-call shifts (including on public holidays).
- Control of 3rd party contractors including monitoring of work performance and standards, including internal auditing where applicable in conjunction with the Engineering Manager.
- Ensure that Specialist Service Provider worksheets are signed off that quality of work is inspected and recommendations are escalated to the Engineering Manager/Supervisor.
- Maintain the 100% uptime criteria.
- Ensure that Plant areas, workshops, stores, changing/rest areas etc. are kept to the highest level of housekeeping.
- Carry out regular 1 on 1 meetings and document performance reports with each member of your team and ensure they receive regular feedback on their performance and have the opportunity to discuss their ongoing development.
- Will be expected to operate and troubleshoot all building systems but not be limited to the following:
- BMS and electrical monitoring
- Control system
- Air handling, conditioning and terminal units - VAV and CRAC
- Chiller
- Domestic water services
- Fire prevention and detection systems
- VESDA
- Fire suppression
- Variable speed drives
- AC, DC single phase and three phase motors
- UPS systems, batteries, static switches and associated controls
- Low voltage switch panels and associated breakers
