Position Overview
Manage the ESG performance for the designated Hammerson Destinations, helping the site(s) maintain their ISO 14001 and 50001 certifications. The Destination Sustainability Executives will be responsible for collating the site’s ESG data to ensure that it is reported accurately and on time. In addition, the role will also work with stakeholders to drive continuous improvement in environmental management and social value delivery. This role combines data management and stakeholder engagement to ensure alignment with Hammerson’s sustainability objectives and JLL’s sustainability values.
Core Responsibilities
- ESG Data Management, Analysis and Quality Assurance: Ensure all monthly ESG reporting data is collected, validated and reported accurately and on time (includes Deepki platform reporting & transition related processes, plus local data tracker & evidence folder upkeep). Oversee local ESG target tracking and reporting to ensure wider ESG KPIs are achieved. Facilitate Environmental Social Governance (ESG) Business Plan annual production and support project delivery where required, managing budgets with invoice-related processes. Ensure the document is maintained and updated regularly. Support the delivery of Net Zero Action Plans with key internal and external stakeholders. Coordinate Destination-level smart meter health checks with MeterXpert, ensuring data accuracy and quality assurance standards are met. Responsibilities include identifying potential meter faults and escalating through MeterXpert, submitting manual reads to MeterXpert for Deepki, and helping coordinate quarterly site visits. Monitor GridEdge platform and review recommendations with Destination team (if applicable to site) and ensure that the Destination actively progresses any energy saving opportunities identified.
- Nature and Biodiversity: Support the delivery of Nature Asset Plan linked projects and execute biodiversity enhancement initiatives at the assigned Destinations.
- Compliance and certification: Support the Client ESG lead to ensure that the Destination maintains its certification and compliance activities for ISO 50001 Energy Management System standard, driving continual improvement. Responsibilities include maintaining the Energy Legal Register, Energy Review, Energy Non-conformity log local entries, supporting internal and external audits, and participating in Management Reviews. Support the Destination to maintain its certification and complete compliance activities for the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System standard. Facilitate both internal and external audit processes, help to ensure ESG RiskWise compliance is achieved, and monitor site-level compliance activity progress, driving continual improvement opportunities. Ensure statutory compliance with existing and new Environmental Legislation is met by facilitating compliance requirements. Support Destination environmental incident reporting processes, ensuring incidents are suitably captured and investigated on RiskWise.
- Stakeholder Engagement and Environmental Campaigns: Investigate and identify any wider opportunities to implement ESG improvements or innovations e.g. energy reduction, improving biodiversity, sustainable travel, and increased waste recycling/reuse of waste. Engage stakeholders through any regular updates required, and facilitate any ESG meetings. Engage with onsite teams, Contractors, Service Partners and occupiers to identify any wider opportunities to improve ESG performance. Lead social value reporting such as use of Social Value Portal reporting and projects. Support occupier engagement in relation to ESG. Drive delivery of environmental campaigns such as Earth Day, World Environment Day, supporting any social value led activations. Organise and participate in volunteering days such as Giving Back Day. Assist with gathering content for best practice case studies or award entries such as Green Apple and CSR Awards. Support the Property Management Sustainable Operations team in organizing and chairing internal team meetings. Support client social value initiatives and requirements. Where required work with local charities to deliver events and activations.
Requirements / Desired Skills
- Education: Relevant degree or proven experience in a similar role
- Essential Experience: Enthusiasm for ESG; Strong analytical and data management skills; Demonstrable attention to detail and ability to use own initiative and self-motivate; Team player able to build effective working relationships; Ability to prioritise and deliver work; Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively across various teams and stakeholders (internal & external); Experienced user of Microsoft Office and confident to use web based platforms.
- Desirable Experience/Skills: Experience managing projects on sustainability and social value; Experience in working across multiple sites; Contractor/Partner/Supplier management experience; Knowledge of ISO 14001 and ISO 50001.
