Jones Knowles Ritchie (JKR) is a branding business, founded in 1990 and proudly independent ever since. We started out in the world of packaging, but now we're worldwide; from three founders to more than 300 of us across the UK and USA. Together, we build and deliver brands across the entire consumer experience. But even more important than what we do, is why we do it. We're here to inspire brands and people to be their true selves. To be brave. Be tenacious. And above all, be yourself. Because we believe that's the only way to truly be distinctive, everywhere.
We're looking for a Senior Copywriter to join our Copywriting team on a 12mth Fixed term contract from late Sept/Oct 2026. This is an opportunity for an experienced brand writer who believes words are one of the most powerful tools in building distinctive brands. You'll lead creative copy across multiple projects, partnering closely with our Design and Client Services teams to develop compelling verbal identities, shape brand narratives and bring charisma to every touchpoint.
Working alongside the Creative director and other Senior Copywriters, you'll help set the creative standard for verbal identity. You'll champion the role of copy throughout the creative process and work directly with clients to challenge briefs, evolve ideas and create work that moves brands forward.
- Lead the creation of compelling brand narratives, verbal identities and creative copy across branding, packaging, campaigns and digital experiences
- Translate strategy into distinctive creative ideas that bring brands to life through language
- Champion the role of copy throughout the creative process, ensuring words and design work seamlessly together
- Develop and evolve tone of voice systems that flex across channels while remaining true to the brand
- Create verbal identity guidelines that enable brands to communicate consistently and confidently
- Evaluate existing brand communications and identify opportunities to strengthen verbal expression
- Adapt copy for different audiences, platforms and formats while maintaining clarity and impact
- Edit and refine creative work to ensure the highest standards of craft
Collaborating with clients and teams:
- Partner closely with Client Services, Strategy, Design and Motion teams to deliver integrated creative solutions
- Challenge and interpret client feedback where appropriate to achieve stronger creative outcomes
- Facilitate workshops, brainstorms and creative sessions that inspire fresh thinking
- Contribute creative ideas to pitches and new business opportunities
- Build trusted relationships with clients through confident communication, strategic thinking and exceptional creative delivery
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining quality and meeting deadlines
Leading by example:
- Mentor and support junior writers and creatives, sharing knowledge and encouraging growth
- Inspire others through curiosity, creativity and a genuine passion for language
- Champion excellence in presentation and communication, both internally and with clients
- Encourage the team to explore emerging trends in language, culture, technology and consumer behaviour
- Support project leadership and team priorities when the Head of Copywriting is unavailable
- Lead with integrity, openness and accountability, creating an environment where great ideas can thrive
At JKR, our goal is to create an equitable, diverse and inclusive workplace that reflects and creates for the societies we live in. Diversity, Equity and Inclusion is a long-term business imperative and a commitment at JKR, not an initiative that sits under one department. You will demonstrate being a DE+I advocate and champion with your actions and participation.
