Job Description
As a Control Engineer, you will oversee the safe coordination of electrical work on systems under Jones Engineering Group control. You will hold overall responsibility for granting release of equipment for work, coordinating system switching, and maintaining oversight of safety activities across projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain central control of the electrical system state across projects.
- Grant consent for switching operations and energisation activities.
- Log release and restoration of plant/apparatus and maintain audit trails.
- Coordinate with SAPs to issue Safety Documents and confirm isolation status.
- Review risk assessments and live working justifications.
- Respond to site emergencies and direct appropriate safety measures.
- Ensure procedural compliance and adherence to operational boundaries.
- Act as the central authority for inter-company safety coordination.
- Maintain operational logs and SCADA records (where applicable).
- Provide technical support to SAPs, APs, and Testing Engineers.
Requirements
- Recognised electrical engineering qualifications.
- Extensive experience with HV/LV systems and system operations.
- Nominated in writing by the Authorising Engineer as a Control Engineer.
- Understanding of legal and procedural safety obligations.
- Proven record in safety management, coordination, and decision-making.
