We are looking for a Senior MEP QS to join one of Ireland’s largest construction companies for data centre projects secured in the London region. Due to continued expansion in our Data Centre division, Jones Engineering requires a Senior MEP Quantity Surveyor for projects based in London. These are significant projects in a region where further growth is expected and offer an opportunity for an ambitious SQS to progress into a Commercial Manager role with support and guidance from our Senior Leadership Team.
Responsibilities
- Manage projects with M&E delivery and future scope to include CSA fit‑out projects as the General Contractor.
- Cashflow management and change control procedures.
- Identify commercial risks and opportunities throughout the project lifecycle, implementing strategies to manage and mitigate risks.
- Support the project team in minimizing potential financial losses and maximizing profit margins.
- Procurement – operational procurement activity and contract support in conjunction with the Procurement Department.
- Manage subcontractor accounts from initial award to interim valuation, variations, and final account.
- Mentor a wider commercial team and engage with the client and their representatives.
- Collaborate with project stakeholders to ensure cost efficiency and value for money throughout the project lifecycle.
- Advise on and implement value engineering solutions to enhance profitability on D&B projects.
- Ensure all commercial activities comply with the company’s policies and legal requirements.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, and subcontractors to ensure smooth project delivery.
- Act as the key point of contact for all commercial matters, providing advice and support to internal and external stakeholders.
- Resolve disputes and manage claims promptly and efficiently to minimize project disruption and adhere to industry standards.
Key Skills / Requirements
- Relevant third‑level qualification in Quantity Surveying or Construction Economics.
- Previous data centre experience preferable but not essential.
- Minimum 6+ years’ experience post‑qualification.
- Experience in an MEP role required.
- Ability to work both individually and as part of a multi‑functional team.
- Excellent IT skills.
- Demonstrates excellent presentation, verbal, written, and communication skills.
- High attention to detail and strong problem‑solving abilities.
