An exciting opportunity exists for a paralegal to join our Global Disputes practice in London on a fixed-term contract. This will count towards your qualifying work experience. You will be part of a high calibre, international disputes team, working on high-value, high-profile, multi-jurisdictional matters. This particular role will be based in our Product Liability team.

Summary of Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Research: Undertaking complex legal research in the areas of product liability, general commercial law and international frameworks.
  • Case Management: Case oversight including monitoring/updating case task list and deadlines, and oversight of group litigation.
  • Client Interaction: Preparing for and attending meetings with clients, barrister team and international legal counsel.
  • Pleadings: Reviewing and analysing pleadings and correspondence.
  • Document Analysis: Reviewing, summarising and analysing documents.
  • Disclosure: Overseeing disclosure process including keeping up to date with new disclosure pilot where required.
  • Factual Evidence: Interviewing factual witnesses and assisting witnesses to draft statements.
  • Experts: Assisting with expert evidence (drafting agendas for expert meetings, identifying documents for experts, working with experts on report content).
  • Hearings: Preparation for hearings including court bundle management.
  • Administration: General administration tasks such as managing case files.

Required Qualifications

  • Have a minimum of a 2:1 Degree.
  • Have an excellent academic record.
  • Have successfully completed SQE1 and SQE2.
  • Some background in a scientific discipline helpful but not a prerequisite.
  • Be professionally presented with a positive and enthusiastic attitude.
  • Display advanced Microsoft Office skills including Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Strong organisational and multitasking ability, especially for managing large case files.
  • Familiarity with international law or cross-border litigation/arbitration helpful but not a prerequisite.
  • Proficiency in legal tech, including document management and e-discovery platforms helpful but not a prerequisite.
  • A good team player.
