Are you an experienced Works Manager ready to lead day-to-day operations on major civil engineering projects? Jones Bros Civil Engineering is recruiting a Works Manager to join our team on large-scale self-delivery infrastructure schemes, beginning with our Onshore Wind Farm project based in Mid Wales. Based on site, you’ll report to the Project Manager and Contract Manager, and play a key role in the safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery of works. Following on from the completion of the Onshore Wind Farm project, you will be expected to travel across the UK with overnight stays required depending on site location. In return, we offer excellent lodge allowances for working away from home, along with the opportunity to manage impactful schemes and further your career within a growing business.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Lead daily site operations, ensuring safe and effective delivery of works.
- Conduct safety briefings, toolbox talks, and daily activity briefings with site teams.
- Manage and coordinate plant, labour, tools, and materials on site.
- Support the Site Agent in interpreting drawings and preparing daily work plans.
- Build strong relationships with clients and key stakeholders on site.
- Monitor progress and report regularly to the Project and Contract Managers.
- Ensure compliance with RAMS, company policies, and client specifications.
- Carry out regular safety, quality, and progress inspections.
- Mentor and supervise site teams, apprentices, and less experienced staff.
- Conduct employee reviews and support skills development on site.
- Order materials and plan deliveries in line with the project programme.
- Report plant defects and maintain site records accurately.
- Promote a positive safety culture and support environmental and HSEQ procedures.
- Manage and resolve on-site challenges proactively.
