We are looking for a motivated Trainee Paralegal to join our Group Legal Team, based in our Head Office in Ruthin, Denbighshire. Reporting to the Group Legal Counsel, you will assist and support with general in‑house legal matters across the Company. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious law graduate, trainee or early‑career legal professional to begin an in‑house legal career with a growing business in the construction and engineering sector.
We are looking for a team‑focused candidate with strong communication skills, sound judgement, attention to detail and a genuine desire to build a legal career in construction and civil engineering.
What You Will Be Doing
- The key day‑to‑day responsibilities will be assisting with contract reviews at bid stage and identifying key risks and considerations in line with the Jones Bros. contracting principles whilst supporting ongoing projects and wider legal, compliance and business matters across the Group.
- The role will also provide general assistance with the following matters:
- Supporting contract discussions and negotiations where required
- Assisting with subcontracts and documentation for appointment of professional services
- Assisting with on‑going Project matters and queries
- Assisting with customer claims and dispute management
- Assisting with Corporate matters, supply chain queries and joint venture relationships
- Reviewing confidentiality agreements, parent company guarantees, collateral warranties and other ancillary documents (e.g. performance bonds).
- Assisting with general legal queries (e.g. data protection, HR, Health & Safety etc.)
- Assisting with drafting and maintaining commercial/legal templates and documents
- Assisting with insurance matters, claims handling and liaising with insurance brokers
- Supporting legal research, internal training and sharing best practice
What We Are Looking For
- A legally trained individual with strong academic ability and a professional approach
- Law degree or equivalent legal training, with a strong academic record
- Interest in commercial contracts, business risk and in‑house legal work
- Professional approach, sound judgement and ability to work with confidential information
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with good IT skills
- A team player with strong organisation, collaboration and interpersonal skills
- Exposure to environmental law, human rights, supply chain risk, data protection or related matters
- Familiarity with civil engineering, construction law or standard contracts (NEC, FIDIC or JCT)
- Legal work experience, virtual internship, administrative, customer‑facing or Welsh language skills
