We are looking for an individual to join our team on a major UK construction project as a site-based Health & Safety Advisor, starting at our Berwick Bank construction project at Innerwick, near Edinburgh (EH42), with other nationwide projects in the future. This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside an experienced site-based team. The successful candidate will report to the Project Contracts Director, Contracts Manager and Senior Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Manager and will provide site-based technical and administrative support as part of the HSE Team, reporting to the project site management team and the Senior HSE Manager.
The Health & Safety Advisor is responsible for providing site engagement, coaching, mentoring, training, monitoring, advising and maintaining all aspects of the health & safety processes and procedures that protect the workforce and minimise the company’s health & safety risks on all sites and locations.

What You Will Be Doing:
- Liaising with site/location delivery teams to provide advice, support and training on all aspects of health & safety compliance and issues affecting the construction site or company location.
- Coaching, mentoring & monitoring health & safety practices on site/location and head office and advising site/location management on improving their health & safety standards.
- Completing site/location health & safety inspections/audits and discussing findings and recommendations with site/location management.
- ISO 45001 champion & monitoring & ensuring compliance with ISO 45001.
- Supporting site/location with incident management including incident investigations.
- Supporting site/location with specific health & safety enquiries, managing contractors, guidance, solutions, risk assessment, method statement, safe systems of work etc.
- Design and implementation of company-wide initiatives to improve health & safety awareness.
- Developing innovative health & safety solutions, e.g., ‘Together Safer’, behavioural safety, plant & equipment technologies etc.
- Advising and assisting with audits and accreditations.
- Liaising with health & safety specialists, regulators and client representatives.
- Contributing to written bids for new contracts and awards.
What We Are Looking For:
- Enthusiastic about health & safety issues.
- Minimum NEBOSH General Certificate, preferable NEBOSH Diploma.
- Tech/Cert member of IOSH (and working towards chartered status).
- Preferable 2 years working for a Tier 1 or Tier 2 civil engineering contractor.
- Highly developed professional communication skills, including writing and presentation of reports, investigations, preparing relevant documents, and participating in a range of meetings.
- Confidently & effectively communicate with all levels of the workforce, contractors, clients, and regulatory bodies.
- Self-motivated, focused, reliable, well-organised, flexible, possess good team-working ethic.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong computer literacy, including good working knowledge of the full Microsoft Office suite.
- Willingness to travel & work at various sites across the UK (including overnight stays).
- Full UK driving licence.
