- Diagnose and repair electrical faults efficiently to minimise production downtime.
- Maintain and fault-find on injection moulding machinery, automation systems, auxiliary equipment and power distribution systems.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and technical documentation.
- Carry out basic electrical installation, modifications and upgrades to control circuits, sensors, actuators and interlocks.
- Undertake basic PLC fault-finding where trained and competent.
- Ensure safe isolation procedures and lockout/tagout (LOTO) processes are followed at all times.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, job cards and equipment histories.
- Support machinery installations, relocations and commissioning activities.
- Assist with mechanical, pneumatic and basic hydraulic maintenance as required.
- Work closely with production and engineering colleagues to identify recurring faults and improve equipment reliability.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, including Lean and 5S activities.
- Maintain high standards of health and safety, housekeeping and workshop organisation.
Skills and Experience
To be considered for this opportunity, you will ideally have:
- A recognised electrical qualification, such as City & Guilds, NVQ Level 2 or 3, an electrical apprenticeship, or equivalent accredited training.
- Proven experience in electrical maintenance and fault-finding within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- A strong understanding of electrical systems, motor controls, control panels and protective devices.
- The ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics and technical documentation.
- Experience using electrical testing equipment, including multimeters and insulation resistance testers.
- A good understanding of electrical safety, safe isolation and permit-to-work procedures.
- The ability to work independently, prioritise breakdowns and respond effectively in a production environment.
- A flexible approach to working a rotating shift pattern, including nights.
Desirable Experience
Experience in any of the following areas would be advantageous:
- Injection moulding machinery or plastics manufacturing.
- PLC fault-finding, particularly with Siemens, Allen-Bradley or Mitsubishi systems.
- Mechanical, pneumatic or hydraulic maintenance.
- Multi-skilled maintenance engineering.
- Automotive manufacturing or quality management systems.
- Continuous improvement methodologies, including Lean, SMED and 5S.
Shift Pattern
The role operates on a rotating two shift pattern at present:
- Morning shift: 6:00am - 2:00pm
- Afternoon shift: 2:00pm - 10:00pm
Moving to a Three shift rotation
- Night shift: 10:00pm - 6:00am
Candidates must be comfortable working across all three shifts on a rotating basis.
