This is an excellent opportunity to work for a market leading Machine Tool manufacturer who have been at the forefront of the industry for many years. Intro: This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for supporting and guiding both the Laser Section and Press Section teams. You will act as the go-to person for technical issues, ensuring smooth operations, high-quality output, and continuous improvement. The position requires strong technical knowledge, leadership skills, and the ability to work under pressure to meet tight schedules.
Job Description
- Operational Support
- Lead and support the Laser and Press teams with technical expertise and high-level skill set.
- Respond immediately to machine breakdowns and stoppages.
- Carry out predictive, preventative, and reactive maintenance on laser machines and presses.
- Maintain machine cleanliness and ensure optimal performance.
- Keep the Production Supervisor informed of progress and issues.
- Ensure quality gateways are completed to the highest standard.
- Support weekly power-off plans, including achievement and recovery strategies.
- Drive improvements in standard times and reduce process waste.
- Support root cause investigations for internal and external customer complaints.
- Provide on-the-job training and coaching to team members.
- Hold daily SQDCP meetings, collating and monitoring KPIs.
- Plan, improve, and record team performance using visualization and effective communication techniques.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives to increase utilization and performance.
- Liaise with supply and customer sections regarding kit and parts availability.
- Work closely with other departments to ensure schedules are met.
- Report and monitor general Health & Safety issues within the area.
- Ensure compliance with company safety standards.

- Strong technical knowledge of laser machines (fibre laser experience advantageous) and press operations.
- Ability to read technical drawings.
- Good computer literacy and competent in Microsoft AX.
- Determination to achieve schedules and meet deadlines.

- Excellent problem-solving skills, including fault finding and diagnosis.
