We are currently recruiting for an experienced Technical Operator to join our clients manufacturing team in West Bromwich. If you’re used to working in a chemical or process environment, take pride in safe working, and enjoy being hands-on with complex plant operations, this could be a great fit.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Safely running and monitoring chemical processes, including:
- Monitoring chemical reactions and process parameters
- Carrying out distillations, separations, transfers, filtrations and powder handling
- Operating vacuum systems, nitrogen supplies and control panels
- Adapting to changing processes and plant requirements
- Working within GMP-controlled areas, following procedures and documentation standards at all times
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience as a process or chemical operative, ideally in a manufacturing environment
- A strong health & safety mindset with knowledge of COSHH and risk assessments
- Comfortable working rotating shifts, including days and nights
- IOSH Working Safely qualification (preferred)
- Counterbalance FLT licence (advantageous, not essential)
- GCSEs (or equivalent) at grade C or above in Maths and English
- A Level 2 vocational qualification or higher is a bonus

The Shift Pattern
- You’ll work a 5-shift system: 2 days / 2 nights / 4 off
- 12-hour shifts
- Days: 06:00 – 18:00
- Nights: 18:00 – 06:00
- Includes weekends and most bank holidays
- Paid 1-hour break every shift
- Every 8-week rotation includes an 18-day break, with one day dedicated to training
- (Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day are non-working)
