Our client is seeking a Test Engineer to join their growing engineering team based in Telford. This is an exciting opportunity to work on bespoke hydraulic and electro-mechanical systems for an established SME who continue to grow. You will be supporting projects from factory acceptance testing through to installation and commissioning. As a Test Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring equipment meets the highest standards of quality, safety and performance. You'll work closely with design engineers, production teams and customers to develop test procedures.
Excellent remuneration available for a skilled Test Engineer with in-depth knowledge of hydraulic systems and automation and controls.
- Salary: up to £60K
- Location: Telford, Shropshire
- Hours: Days Monday to Friday (Lunch time finish Friday)
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and produce test documentation for Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), customer FATs, installation, commissioning and sea trials.
- Read, interpret and verify hydraulic circuits to develop flushing and pressure testing procedures.
- Interpret electrical schematics and assist with system verification.
- Support the testing and troubleshooting of hydraulic, electrical and control systems.
- Assist with PLC and drive system diagnostics.
- Carry out in-house testing and customer site commissioning.
- Create and update AutoCAD drawings for test layouts and equipment.
- Record and maintain test specifications, serial number registers and technical documentation.
- Analyse and compile test data, identifying opportunities for process improvements.
About You:
You'll be a practical engineer with strong fault-finding skills and the confidence to work independently as well as part of a wider engineering team with a background in purpose-built machinery or heavy production machines and material handling equipment.
Essential Skills Experience:
- Experience in assembly, test and validation, testing or commissioning of industrial machinery and heavy machinery.
- Strong knowledge of hydraulic systems.
- Engineering qualifications - mechanical engineering or electrical engineering.
- Ability to read hydraulic and electrical schematics.
- Experience troubleshooting mechanical, hydraulic and control systems.
- Excellent attention to detail and documentation skills.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong communication and customer-facing skills.
Desirable:
- Experience with PLC and Drive systems.
- AutoCAD experience.
- Heavy Industry and mechanical systems.
You will have current or recent experience as a test and validation engineer, validation engineer, lead validation engineer or hydraulic engineer, hydraulic technician, hydraulic test technician or mechanical engineer, mechatronic engineer or commissioning engineer.
