Turn your engineering expertise into real product impact. As a Senior Design Engineer, you will lead new product development end to end, shaping concepts into compliant, manufacturable products for demanding industrial markets. This is a role built for confident, collaborative problem-solvers who thrive on ownership, clear stage-gate progress, and continuous improvement.
What You Will Do:
- Own NPD projects from concept through to production release, managing scope, timescales, cost, and risk as a trusted technical lead for the business.
- Create concepts, engineering calculations, 3D models, and detailed drawings using Autodesk Inventor and/or SolidWorks.
- Apply structural and vessel design principles, including stiffening for pressure and vacuum ratings and wind loading considerations for externally sited units.
- Design hopper and flow geometry to support effective discharge from collectors and filter units, with manufacturability in mind.
- Plan and coordinate prototyping, testing, and validation, ensuring sign-off at each stage gate within the structured product introduction process.
- Drive compliance and certification, preparing technical files for CE/UKCA and, where relevant, ATEX and DSEAR, with robust drawing revision control.
What You Will Bring:
- A degree or HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering (or a related discipline), supported by significant design engineering experience (typically 7+ years) on industrial or manufactured products.
- Proven ability to lead new product development projects, balancing delivery, quality, and cross-functional collaboration with Purchasing, Production, Test, Quality, and Sales.
- Strong working knowledge of sheet metal construction and modern fabrication methods, plus a solid command of engineering drawings and revision control.
- Experience implementing CE/UKCA standards, with exposure to ATEX and DSEAR seen as highly beneficial.
- A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel for customer meetings, site visits, and project support across the UK and internationally.
