Our client, a global leader in industrial maintenance, is seeking a mechanically biased Maintenance Technician to support operations at their Yeovil site, operating within a highly regulated, fast-paced aerospace manufacturing environment. Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out mechanical breakdown repairs and preventative maintenance on industrial machinery.
  • Diagnose and repair faults across mechanical systems, with some electrical and control system involvement.
  • Dismantle, repair, replace, and test machine components to ensure optimal performance.
  • Perform fabrication and machining tasks, supporting maintenance and improvement work.
  • Carry out welding (MIG & TIG), fabrication, and manual machining using mills, lathes, and pillar drills, along with sheet metal work to support equipment repair and improvement.
  • Support continuous improvement (CI) projects to enhance performance and reduce downtime.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a mechanical maintenance role.
  • Strong mechanical fault-finding and repair skills.
  • Good working knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical systems.
  • Proven ability to carry out welding (MIG & TIG).
  • Experience in fabrication and component repair.
  • Skilled in manual machining using mills, lathes, and pillar drills.
  • Experience using tools, workshop machinery, and maintenance equipment.

This role would suit someone who has previously worked as a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, Maintenance Fitter, Mechanical Technician, or Shift Engineer.
