Our client, a global leader in industrial maintenance, is seeking a mechanically biased Maintenance Technician to support operations at their Yeovil site, operating within a highly regulated, fast-paced aerospace manufacturing environment. The Role:
- Carry out mechanical breakdown repairs and preventative maintenance on industrial machinery
- Diagnose and repair faults across mechanical systems, with some electrical and control system involvement
- Dismantle, repair, replace, and test machine components to ensure optimal performance
- Perform fabrication and machining tasks, supporting maintenance and improvement work
- Carry out welding (MIG & TIG), fabrication, and manual machining using mills, lathes, and pillar drills, along with sheet metal work to support equipment repair and improvement.
- Maintain accurate records using CMMS systems
- Identify and source parts, tools, and consumables
- Support continuous improvement (CI) projects to enhance performance and reduce downtime
- Mentor junior technicians and support team development
- Ensure full compliance with health & safety and 5S standards
About You:
- With previous experience of working within heavy industry, you’ll be a mechanically biased engineer with:
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a mechanical maintenance role
- Strong mechanical fault-finding and repair skills
- Good working knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical systems
- Proven ability to carry out welding (MIG & TIG)
- Experience in fabrication and component repair
- Skilled in manual machining using mills, lathes, and pillar drills
- Ability to work independently and within a team
- Experience using tools, workshop machinery, and maintenance equipment
This role would suit someone who has previously worked as a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, Maintenance Fitter, Mechanical Technician, or Shift Engineer.
