Our client, Yamazaki Mazak, is a leading global manufacturing company based in Worcester. This is an excellent opportunity to work for a market leading machine tool manufacturer that has been at the forefront of the industry for many years.
We are seeking a proactive and experienced Senior HSE Officer to lead and support our safety initiatives across Mazak. This role is critical in ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation, promoting a strong safety culture, and driving continuous improvement in HSE performance.
Job Description
- Lead the implementation and monitoring of HSE policies, procedures, and programs.
- Conduct risk assessments, audits, and inspections to identify hazards and ensure compliance.
- Investigate incidents and near misses, prepare reports, and recommend corrective actions.
- Deliver HSE training and toolbox talks to staff and contractors.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation in line with legal and company requirements.
- Liaise with regulatory bodies and ensure timely reporting.
- Support the development of emergency response plans and conduct drills.
- Champion a culture of safety and environmental responsibility across all levels of the organization.
- Report analysis including trends.
- Interrogate root cause of accidents including creation of departmental systems and procedures to prevent reoccurrence.
- Understand & maintain departmental systems, procedures & KPI's.
- Has the ability and willingness to train others on OJT.
- Demonstrate tangible Kaizen based improvement projects for SQDCP.
- Control 5S to a high standard.
Essential Qualifications
- NEBOSH Diploma Degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) in a relevant field such as Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering or Risk Management.
Desirable Certifications
- IOSH Membership.
- ISO 45001 Lead Auditor.
- Environmental Management Qualification.
- First Aid at Work & Fire Safety.
- Manual Handling Training.
- Formal training in COSHH, Work at Height, or advanced risk assessment techniques desirable.
Experience Requirements
- Typically 5+ years in HSE roles, with at least 2 years in a senior or supervisory capacity.
- Experience in conducting risk assessments, incident investigations, and delivering training.
- Understanding of local and international HSE laws, regulations, and standards and compliance frameworks relevant to the industry.
- Experience of working with certification bodies.
