We are currently recruiting for a Skilled Machinist/Fitter to work for our client at their facility in Kidderminster. The role is responsible for undertaking machining duties in line with quality standards and best engineering practices. The role ensures activities are carried out efficiently to meet delivery requirements and may include supporting peripheral activities such as assembly and packing.
Reporting & Relationships:
- Reports directly to the Works Manager or Production Planning Manager.
- Liaises with all internal departments as necessary.
- Participates proactively in internal and external quality audits.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
- Fully commit to achieving company policies and objectives, with a focus on quality and safety.
- Carry out duties safely, efficiently, economically, and effectively.
- Ensure workshop equipment, machinery, and tools are maintained according to planned schedules and are safe to use.
- Ensure personnel are adequately trained and competent to perform delegated tasks in line with quality and safety standards.
- Maintain good housekeeping and organization of the working area.
- Recommend improvements to existing working practices where appropriate.
- Advise on renewal or replacement of plant and equipment as needed.
- Maintain adequate levels of production consumables.
- Obtain approval from senior management for any expenditure commitments.
- Demonstrate safe working practices at all times for both internal staff and visitors.
- Display flexibility and a positive approach to tasks as required.
- Follow reasonable instructions and tasks from senior personnel, in line with job responsibilities and company objectives.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Experience operating machinery such as vertical/horizontal borers, lathes, and drilling machines.
- Maths and English GCSE grade 4/5 (or equivalent) preferred but not essential.
