Lead the planning and performance of a critical energy network. An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Resource Planning & Operations Manager to take ownership of workforce planning, field resource deployment, and service delivery performance across a complex electricity distribution network. This is a high-impact leadership role supporting infrastructure that powers over 55,000 service and metering points, substations, and an extensive cable network.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the Service Delivery Resource function, ensuring effective planning and prioritisation across all operational activities
  • Manage workforce planning, scheduling, and resource allocation across field-based teams
  • Oversee capacity planning, utilisation, and deployment of operational staff
  • Lead team performance, development, and training initiatives
  • Collaborate with construction, planning, and metering teams to align resources with demand
  • Forecast future resource requirements and resolve conflicts across multiple projects
  • Analyse KPIs to identify inefficiencies and drive continuous improvement
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, distribution safety rules, and company procedures
  • Support the development and improvement of operational processes and service delivery standards

Skills and Experience

  • Proven experience in resource planning, workforce planning, or operations management
  • Background in utilities, electricity distribution, infrastructure, or construction environments
  • Strong leadership and team management capability
  • Experience working with field-based or operational teams
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven approach
  • Ability to drive performance improvements and operational efficiency
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Degree qualified or equivalent professional experience

Desirable:

  • PRINCE2 or equivalent project management qualification
  • IOSH or relevant health and safety certification
  • Knowledge of electricity distribution networks or utility operations
