Our client, a global leader in industrial maintenance, is seeking a Mechanically Biased Maintenance engineer to support their operations at Yeovil based aerospace site within a fast-paced manufacturing setting. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys variety—taking on fault finding, repairs, fabrication, and contributing to continuous improvement in a dynamic production environment.

Location: Yeovil

Salary: £38,500 per annum + Bonus

Shift Pattern: Monday - Thursday 07:00-15:30 | Friday 07:00-12:00

The Role:

  • Carry out mechanical breakdown repairs and preventative maintenance on industrial machinery
  • Diagnose and repair faults across mechanical systems, with some electrical and control system involvement
  • Dismantle, repair, replace, and test machine components to ensure optimal performance
  • Perform fabrication and machining tasks, supporting maintenance and improvement work
  • Carry out welding, fabrication, and manual machining using mills, lathes, and pillar drills, along with sheet metal work to support equipment repair and improvement
  • Maintain accurate records using CMMS
  • Identify and source parts, tools, and consumables
  • Support continuous improvement (CI) projects to enhance performance and reduce downtime

Relevant Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a mechanical maintenance role
  • Strong mechanical fault-finding and repair skills
  • Good working knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical systems
  • Proven ability to carry out welding
  • Experience in fabrication and component repair
  • Skilled in manual machining using mills, lathes, and pillar drills
  • Ability to work independently and within a team
  • Experience using tools, workshop machinery, and maintenance equipment

This role would suit someone who has previously worked as a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, Maintenance Fitter, Mechanical Technician, multi-skilled maintenance engineer or Shift Engineer. In addition you may have served with the military, armed forces, army, navy, RAF or REME.
