A Mechanical Design Engineer is required to join an International Industrial and Automation Company that is expanding their Mechanical Design Team.
Responsibilities for the Mechanical Design Engineer:
- Mechanical Design, detailing and development of machinery and tooling using Solid Works.
- Produce proposal technical drawings for customers as part of the quotation process.
- Ensure all documentation is correctly updated, referenced and stored.
- Strive for cost reductions and improved efficiencies within the process.
- Identify process, productivity, and quality improvements by highlighting issues to management.
- Ensure all documentation is updated, including schedules, manuals, and spares lists.
- Strive for simplest design and improved reliability.
- To have hands on involvement during trials and machine testing.
- Some international travel to customers including some weekend work & travel where required.
- To actively participate in improvement projects as required.
- Develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders, customers, and suppliers.
- Ensure that all Company policies and procedures are adhered to.
- May also be required to undertake additional tasks or duties from time to time.
Qualifications for the Mechanical Design Engineer:
- Good working knowledge of Solid Works and ability to work as a member of a design team.
- Work accurately, calmly, and effectively under pressure and to tight deadlines.
- Ability to react positively and calmly with sudden and unexpected changes in demand.
- Good organisational and communication skills.
- Good interpersonal skills, with experience of building professional relationships at all levels.
- Have some commercial awareness and be a problem solver with the ability to analyse a situation.
- Provide solutions & perform design calculations for mechanical components, drives & structures.
- Ideally HNC or equivalent or above in mechanical engineering.
- Ability to understand and interpret technical drawings, geometric tolerancing and specifications.
- Understanding of manufacturing and mechanical design processes.
- Full in date passport and fully COVID vaccinated for travel purposes.
