A growing food manufacturer are seeking a Development Chemist to join their new product development team.

This role combines innovation, laboratory testing, and real-world support for manufacturing scale-up, giving you a clear path to influence products from concept through to delivery.

What You Will Do

  • Design and optimise formulations for a range of FMCG products.
  • Select and evaluate raw materials such as surfactants, solvents, fragrances, preservatives and performance additives to improve results and cost-effectiveness.
  • Run laboratory trials, stability studies, compatibility testing, and performance evaluations to ensure products meet expectations.
  • Support pilot plant and manufacturing scale-up, including troubleshooting formulation and raw-material challenges and helping transfers run smoothly.
  • Maintain accurate technical documentation, formulation records, specifications and test reports to strengthen quality and regulatory readiness.
  • Manage multiple development projects, track progress against milestones, and present findings and recommendations confidently.

What You Will Bring

  • A background in chemistry and formulation work, with practical experience developing and testing products.
  • Strong understanding of raw materials, formulation compatibility, and quality-focused development practices.
  • Experience supporting scale-up or working closely with manufacturing, quality and technical teams.
  • Confidence maintaining technical documentation and working to regulatory and compliance expectations.
  • A proactive, collaborative approach to problem-solving, with the ability to prioritise across several projects at once.
