We are recruiting for a Resident Engineer to be based full-time at a major manufacturing facility in Darlington. Working as part of a small on-site engineering team, you will be responsible for the monitoring, maintenance, calibration and fault diagnosis of specialist test and measurement equipment, ensuring maximum uptime and reliable operation.
This is a hands-on role focused on routine electrical servicing, preventative maintenance and technical support. You will act as the primary point of contact for day-to-day equipment issues whilst working closely with specialist engineers who provide additional support when required.
Key Responsibilities- Provide first-line fault finding and diagnosis on specialist test and measurement equipment.
- Carry out routine electrical servicing, maintenance and calibration activities.
- Monitor equipment performance and identify potential issues before they impact operations.
- Complete maintenance, calibration and service documentation accurately and on time.
- Issue calibration certificates and associated reports where required.
- Plan and manage scheduled maintenance and calibration activities.
- Maintain detailed service records and technical reports.
- Escalate technical issues through internal support systems when necessary.
- Build effective working relationships with customer personnel and engineering colleagues.
- Ensure all work is completed in accordance with quality, safety and company procedures.
- Attend training activities and support wider engineering activities where required.
- HND or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
- Strong electrical fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
- Previous experience within maintenance, service, calibration or test engineering environments.
- Good understanding of electrical systems and equipment.
- PLC knowledge would be advantageous.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Self-motivated, reliable and professional approach.
