As a Chassis Dyno Test Engineer, you will help deliver high-quality propulsion and emissions test work in a fast-moving environment, working alongside engineers, academic partners and third-party customers.

Based at onsite facilities at Warwick University.

What You Will Do

  • Operate the Environmental Chassis Emissions Dynamometer end-to-end as a Chassis Dyno Test Engineer, ensuring safe and efficient test execution.
  • Carry out vehicle check-in, inspection, preparation and check-out, verifying fuel levels, tyres, pressures, fluids and calibration status.
  • Prepare and install vehicles on the dynamometer, including correct positioning, strapping, wheel alignment and roller engagement.
  • Confirm instrumentation setup and connections to support data quality, readiness and repeatability for every test cycle as a Chassis Dyno Test Engineer.
  • Drive test cycles to required standards and profiles, monitoring test conditions and acting promptly if any deviation occurs.
  • Support post-test activities such as safe de-instrumentation, vehicle removal, and restoration of the dyno cell to a clean, safe and operational state.

What You Will Bring

  • Experience in chassis dynamometer or engine test facility operation, including vehicle installation, test execution and post-test processes.
  • Practical knowledge of vehicle preparation and instrumentation, such as sensor setup, thermocouples, emissions measurement systems and data acquisition.
  • Familiarity with test control and data acquisition tools, including AVL systems (for example PUMA, CAMEO), ETAS INCA or equivalent platforms.
  • Understanding of emissions testing procedures, including bag emissions measurement systems and basic data quality checks.
  • A strong safety mindset and ability to work to structured procedures, while supporting troubleshooting of test setups and instrumentation faults.

This Chassis Dyno Test Engineer role supports the delivery of rigorous engineering programme outputs and helps maintain dependable facility operation within the wider propulsion and emissions testing industry.

You will contribute to dependable standards, safety and quality, while collaborating effectively with customer and academic stakeholders to meet scheduled test requirements.

Onsite at Warwick University in Warwick, supporting chassis dynamometer activities within the Advanced Propulsion Research Laboratory (APRL).
