This position is particularly suited to ex-Forces personnel, military leavers, and REME-trained technicians looking to continue their careers within a structured defence environment.

This role offers the opportunity to utilise your military vehicle maintenance experience in a field-based position, working independently across MOD sites.

The Role

As a Mobile Field Service Vehicle Fitter, you will be responsible for the inspection, maintenance, and repair of military vehicles and associated equipment in a field-based capacity. Operating across MOD locations in Bicester, Aylesbury, and Buckingham, you will manage your own workload, ensuring all tasks are completed efficiently, safely, and in line with technical standards. This role mirrors a REME-style working environment, where autonomy, technical expertise, and accountability are key.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, maintain, and repair military vehicles and associated equipment in the field
  • Attend MOD sites independently to carry out planned and reactive maintenance
  • Accurately complete job cards, technical reports, and supporting documentation
  • Ensure all work meets required technical standards, statutory regulations, and safety protocols
  • Maintain high standards of health, safety, and environmental compliance at all times

About You

This role is ideal for individuals with a background in military or heavy vehicle maintenance, including:

  • REME-trained Vehicle Mechanics / Fitters
  • Military Vehicle Technicians or Artificers
  • Service leavers transitioning into civilian roles
  • HGV Technicians or engineers with relevant transferable experience

Skills & Experience

  • Ability to obtain BPSS clearance, progressing to SC clearance
  • City & Guilds Level 3 in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent military qualification)
  • Proven experience in diagnostics, fault finding, and repair of military or heavy vehicles
  • Experience conducting inspections, servicing, and troubleshooting
  • Test authorisation for statutory technical testing (desirable)
  • Full UK driving licence with a minimum of Class C (HGV2)
  • Experience across military vehicles, HGVs, plant, agricultural, or specialist equipment
  • Military qualifications and experience will be fully recognised and valued.
