Production Engineer

We are recruiting for a Production Engineer to join an established engineeringbusiness specialising in electrical control systems, control panels and automation solutionsfor a range of industrial applications. The business works closely with customers to design, manufacture and deliver bespoke electrical solutions, supporting projects from initial design and NPI through to production and final build.

You will support the introduction of new products from initial prototype build and First Article Inspection through to production, providing the technical information required to deliver projects successfully.

The Role

  • Support New Product Introduction (NPI) from prototype build through to production
  • Work closely with customer engineers to understand requirements and develop production-ready solutions
  • Provide technical support and guidance to highly skilled electrical wiremen throughout the manufacturing process
  • Create and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs), wiring diagrams and production engineering documentation
  • Support First Article Inspection / ISIR and customer acceptance activities
  • Develop electrical designs and production information from customer requirements
  • Ensure products are designed effectively for manufacture and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Investigate and resolve production and engineering issues
  • Support Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) and ensure engineering information is accurate and up to date

About You

We're looking for someone with a background in electrical engineering, electrical panel design or production engineering, ideally within a manufacturing environment.

You will need:

  • Strong understanding of electrical control systems
  • Experience with electrical design and interpreting electrical schematics
  • Experience supporting NPI / new product introduction
  • Experience producing BOMs and wiring diagrams
  • Good understanding of design for manufacture and production processes
  • Experience using electrical CAD packages
  • Knowledge of relevant electrical standards and legislation, including EN 60204, EMC and LVD
  • The ability to work from customer requirements and translate these into practical production solutions

An HNC/NVQ or equivalent qualification in Electrical/Electronic Engineering would be beneficial, although relevant industry experience is more important.
