CLIENT: The UK's No. 1 Pawnbroker

SALARY: Excellent basic salary plus performance incentives, training and professional development, and significant career progression opportunities

POSITION: Permanent – Full-Time

Already one of the UK's leading luxury asset lenders and retailers, our client is renowned for its expertise, trust and exceptional customer service. Specialising in luxury watches, fine jewellery, designer handbags and other high-value assets, the business continues to flourish and is now seeking additional industry-knowledgeable and customer-focused Pawnbroking Appraisers.

The company offers extensive internal and external training and support to help develop your skills and expertise, particularly if the jewellery and luxury asset sector is new to you.

The Role

  • You will be responsible for appraising luxury assets for lending and purchasing purposes, supporting retail sales activities and delivering outstanding customer service throughout every stage of the customer journey.
  • Customer appraisals and valuations are an integral part of the role and, through ongoing exposure to a wide range of luxury products, you will continually develop your product knowledge and enhance your appraisal expertise.
  • In addition to face-to-face consultations, you will be expected to provide accurate and professional advice via telephone and email where appropriate.
  • There will also be opportunities to promote and sell luxury pre-owned jewellery, watches, handbags and other high-value merchandise within a retail environment.
  • This sector requires a strong awareness of market trends and wider industry activity, enabling you to contribute commercially and support the ongoing success of your business unit.
  • A high degree of professionalism and attention to detail is essential. Adherence to company policies, procedures and regulatory requirements is paramount and will require a careful, considered and organised approach to every aspect of your work.

Requirements

  • You will possess strong customer service and relationship-building skills, together with a naturally inquisitive interest in the valuable items you encounter on a daily basis.
  • Previous experience within a retail jeweller, pawnbroking or luxury goods environment would be highly advantageous, particularly where jewellery, watches, handbags or other luxury products have been handled and assessed.
  • Candidates should have a good level of IT proficiency, strong numerical ability and excellent communication skills.
  • Professional qualifications in jewellery, watchmaking or retail would be beneficial; however, comprehensive training and development resources are available to support you in achieving some of the industry's most respected accreditations.

Examples include:

  • JET 1
  • GIA qualifications
  • NPA training and certification

A genuine passion for luxury brands and high-value assets would be advantageous. This interest may extend beyond jewellery and watches into areas such as collectibles, fine art, antiques or high-end vehicles.

The successful candidate will be professional, trustworthy and discreet, appreciating the personal responsibility that comes with occupying such a privileged position.

Why Apply?

The role of Pawnbroking Appraiser represents a significant career step, particularly for individuals with a retail background seeking to move into a more specialist and consultative environment. Rather than focusing solely on selling products, this role combines expert advisory services with retail sales, creating a uniquely rewarding and varied career path. For those already working within the sector, joining this fast-growing organisation could provide the ideal opportunity to further accelerate your pawnbroking career.

The company offers an abundance of training and development opportunities and is continually investing in growth and market expansion. As your expertise, knowledge and commercial contribution increase, there will be genuine opportunities to assume greater responsibility and progress your career accordingly.
