We are seeking a meticulous and skilled Artisan Jeweller with a specialisation in pearl stringing to join our high-end bespoke jewellery workshop. The ideal candidate will have a passion for fine craftsmanship and an exceptional eye for detail. You will be responsible for creating, repairing, and restoring exquisite pearl necklaces, bracelets, and other fine jewellery pieces to the highest standards of quality and artistry.
Key Responsibilities
- Expertly string and knot pearls and other beads using traditional and modern techniques, ensuring durability and aesthetic perfection.
- Perform intricate repairs and restorations on vintage and contemporary pearl jewellery, including cleaning, re-stringing, and clasp replacement.
- Collaborate with designers and clients on custom projects, providing technical expertise on materials, design feasibility, and construction.
- Maintain a clean and organised workspace, and manage inventory of pearls, threads, clasps, and other essential materials.
- Conduct quality control checks on all finished pieces to ensure they meet our brand's exacting standards before they reach the client.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Proven experience as a jeweller, bench jeweller, or bead stringer, with a strong portfolio showcasing pearl work.
- Deep knowledge of different pearl types (e.g., Akoya, South Sea, Tahitian, Freshwater), grading, and care.
- Proficiency in traditional pearl knotting techniques (e.g., using silk or nylon thread) and familiarity with various clasp types and stringing methods.
- Exceptional manual dexterity, patience, and a keen eye for detail and symmetry.
Nice-to-Have Qualifications
- Formal training or certification in gemology (e.g., GIA) or jewellery making.
- Experience with wire-wrapping techniques and incorporating other gemstones into pearl designs.
- Previous work in a luxury retail or bespoke jewellery environment.
