To be successful in this role, joining as a Store Manager you'll need the following skills and experience: A genuine passion for pets and people - delighting customers with an unrivalled shopping experience. Expect to meet customers with paws, claws or feathers, so comfort around animals is a must. Previous retail store management experience, with a hands‑on approach to running the business day‑to‑day and planning for short, medium and long‑term success. Commercially confident on the shop floor - comfortable modelling and coaching upselling and add‑on sales conversations with customers, not just reviewing sales figures after the fact. A sound decision‑maker who communicates objectives clearly and builds high‑performing, engaged teams, with succession plans in place for future leaders. A proven track record of developing business performance and exceeding KPIs, while maintaining high store standards, health & safety, and legal compliance. Commercially aware, able to manage your P&L with a proactive approach. Own transport with a UK driving licence, as occasional out‑of‑hours store visits or regional cover may be needed.
